You are completely correct on this, I forgot to square the velocity, and have removed my incorrect statement above.
I have some sympathy with the cost of materials being up, cost of groupsets etc....
You could spend half that and get a decent upgrade from stock/cheap tyres. But Pirelli don't do 'cheap' tyres....
