The Tulsa Flat is an out-and-back course for 22 miles. The course was built on an old railroad line. It is flat. I provide the easiest course to ride 100 miles. There are no climbs. The challenge is mental but to ride 100 miles you must pass the finish line and your car 5 times. Other riders sit around, visit, listen to music, and eat. Basically, there is a party at the finish line.
The ride is designed to give you 8 hours to ride as far as you desire. You pick how you want to ride. There is nothing stopping you from riding 5 or 10 miles. It's up to you. The event is fully supported for 8 hours.
A rider can get a long ride in with no climbing in the early part of the season.
The Tulsa chapter and the OKC chapter get together for this cycling party. This is one of the first opportunities for the chapter to get together.
The course goes directly through the community of Sperry. Sperry was the host city for the 1983 movie The Outsiders. Tom Cruise, Matt Dillon, Patrick Swayze, Ralph Macchio, Rob Low and Emilio Estevez were featured in their first movie. The old drug store and DX service station have been restored.
