The Steel Gravel Tour is a cycling event celebrating the Tour de Yorkshire coming to Stocksbridge, as well as the fantastic countryside and paths in the surrounding area.
The route will be made up of gravel tracks, roads and couple of less well surfaced bridleways. You can use any bike you like, from a road bike to a mountain bike, although a gravel, cyclocross, xc mountain bike or hybrid type bike will be the best option for the mix of terrain on route. The route uses parts of the Stocksbirdge loop, where the Tour de Yorkshire route will be doing two laps of the town and surrounding hills.
There will be a fancy dress competition (optional but encouraged!) with a yellow, blue and white theme, with prizes provided by Cotic bikes and the competition being judged by the Stocksbridge Mayor.
We will be having a woodland tea party on route, so you can fuel up with a nice cup of tea or coffee, a slice of cake and show off your costume!
The funds raised from the event will go to the Steel Valley Project, a countryside management charity- www.steelvalleyproject.org
