I'm impressed they've still got a green Safeway "Shop & Go" box, less impressed with the zip tie's 'securing' the battery to the frame.

somewhere there is a tea-leaf with a battery minus its original spec charger. Another fire in the making.

I don't blame the train staff. I don't expect they'd allow someone on with a lashed up petrol container either. Somehow people instinctively know the latent destruction in a leaky litre of petrol, but don't see the same potential (excuse the pun) in a charged up dodgy lithium battery.

Maybe you need to get a certificate of professional assessment before travelling ("I, a suitably qualified bicycle mechanic and electrical engineer, promise that this frankenbike won't burst into flames any time soon...").
